EEL RIVER
Flowing over 196 miles from its headwaters in the Coast Ranges to Humboldt Bay – where it empties into the Pacific Ocean – is The Eel, one of California’s most dynamic rivers.
Federally designated in 1981 as a Wild & Scenic River, The Eel offers unparalleled wild beauty and many opportunities for recreation.
Abundant swimming holes exist along the Mainstem and the Middle Fork, due east and just north of Willits.
Seasonal kayaking can be arranged nearby from Dos Rios to Alderpoint.
