WILLITS FRONTIER DAYS

The Longest Running Continuous Rodeo In California

The spirit of the frontier is alive and well in Willits, especially during the lead up to 4th of July when our town hosts two nights of CCPRA Rodeo, Dances, Horseshows, a Junior Rodeo, a Gymkhana, a Truck & Tractor Pull, a Beef BBQ that serves 5,000, a Carnival, and a 4th of July parade on Main Street. Billed as “the longest running continuous rodeo in California”, Frontier Days celebrates our town’s Western heritage. Events kick off with the Hometown Celebration held on Main Street in downtown Willits.

The Willits Frontier Days Association incorporated in 1950 when a group of local businessman and ranchers took over the proverbial ‘reins’ of the event. The continuity of Willits Frontier Days has remained unbroken since 1926.

A non-profit organization, Willits Frontier Days still operates as it did in the beginning with no individual or organization getting any financial reward. Residents and clubs work together to put on the events and decide together how to spend the profits of each show to benefit our community.
